About Me

‘The Best Bear Hugs Ever’ is inspired by my two children. I often said to myself that my children gave the best hugs ever. Seeing my children surprised and happy when I come home to the point where they drop anything they are doing, run straight to me and give me a hug. I just don’t know of any hugs that feel any warmer, softer, and lovable than these hugs.
The story itself came to mind while in the serenity of home; in the shower. Having two young kids, it’s not often I have time to reflect on life in a nice peaceful surrounding of the ocean, mountains or a quite garden. So, instead my time of peace and tranquility is often found in the bathroom.

The story changed a little bit from the original writing of ‘The Best Bear Hugs Ever’. The first change made was adding additional animals to the story. After that, clues were added about which animal the parent would see next and the hugs received from the animals were varied. Then, grammatical corrections were made multiple times.

About Myself:

I have a degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After graduating I worked in the landscape architecture field for about seven years. Then, I taught Computer-Aided Drafting in high school for one year. I now stay home with my two kids trying to be the best father and husband I can be. Growing-up I never thought that I would work in the landscape architectural field; I never thought I would teach; and I never thought that my kids would give ‘The Best Bear Hugs Ever’; but, they do. Sometimes while in the peaceful surroundings of nature, at home, I remember an old Beatles song that says “life is what happens to you, while you’re busy making other plans”. This is very true. I never thought that I would ever write a children’s book, either. But, I did.

I hope you enjoy ‘The Best Bear Hugs Ever’. A beautifully illustrated version of this book is now available at http://www.TheBestBearHugsEver.com. Taking the opportunity to share this story with your children or grandchildren is sure to bring many smiles, many hugs, and many memories.

  2. Hello Scott! Wow! How exciting to write a children’s book…..and what’s even more exciting is that your children inspired it. That’s awesome! Congratulations!

I noticed you went from being out on the work field to becoming a stay at home dad. How do you feel with the change? I am a stay at home mom and am very thankful for that privilege. I’m getting closer to being able to get back out to the work force and I’m looking forward to it. Although I adore and treasure every minute spent with my children, I do feel the desire to get back out there and accomplish my long awaited goals.
